Northern Virginia dispatch
Rashard Hunt: Great guys, fast and easy process. Dutch, Smoke, & Chase were my 3 man crew and they made this a smooth move. The owner Michael was amazing as well, accommodating any concerns.
Rebecca Shipp (Becky): I contacted Jonathan at the last minute for my move and he accommodated it on short notice. The moving crew, Daryl and Trevon, worked SO HARD! I underestimated the size and length of the move and they were flexible, understanding, and made sure everything was loaded and unloaded with no damage. Jonathan showed up the morning of my move to make sure his crew had all the supplies needed.
Sue M.: My original movers backed out on me days before my lease ended. A friend had an Army Strong flyer, I called, and Jonathan assured me I was in good hands. They packed my Richmond apartment 48 hours later — my friend oversaw it and said they were the most professional movers she had ever seen. They were there four hours and never dragged their feet. That evening Jonathan sent a list of materials used, the weight, and a very reasonable quote. My things arrived in New Jersey Saturday morning.
Michelle Jones: Wow, best experience we have ever had with a moving company. Very professional and pleasant to work with. Extremely considerate of our home and knowledgeable about how to move a heavy 650 lb refrigerator. Highly highly recommend.
Curt Conlin: Army Strong Movers are amazing! They are professional and these movers know what they are doing. For the first time in the many moves we have done, nothing was scratched, dented or broken. And they are really nice guys! We will hire them again without a doubt.
Donna Wells: In our opinion, these guys are the best. We've moved several times over the years, so we've had both great and not great experiences. This one was terrific. The crew showed up on time and ready to work — professional, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. At one point a tiny specialized piece of hardware fell off our daybed. A few days later they cleared out and swept the entire truck to find and return it. That's definitely going above and beyond.
Devin “Munki” Myles: I hired them to help me move from Harrisonburg to Richmond. All my items were accounted for and in great condition, and they were very punctual with their time. 10/10, would hire again!
William Atkinson: Brought my desk up three flights of stairs and an extra flight with a hard pivot that I was worried wouldn't work. But in the end they got it exactly where I wanted it and it looks great!
Tim: My experience with Army Strong movers was tremendous. The guys were early and on time, they came in and treated my furniture with total professional care, and they finished the job within the 4 hours which was great. Thank you again Army Strong movers, great job guys.
Kevin Herkenham: We had a move from Maryland to Virginia. Army Strong Movers were extremely professional and responsive. They are clearly a group that takes pride in what they do, and I would highly recommend them to anyone that has a move on the horizon — it's money well spent.
Loretta King: I wish I could give Army Strong Movers 10 stars. I contacted them last minute to assist with a local move to a temporary residence and they did not disappoint. Not only were they responsive but they sent extra help to make sure I could make my deadline. With this type of outstanding customer service I will not hesitate to recommend and use them again.
Tabitha Miller: Army Strong Movers are by far the BEST moving company my husband and I have used! Professional, friendly, efficient, and they took great care of our property. They wrapped all of our belongings and made sure to be careful with everything. When we tried to help, they kindly told us that was what they were there for.
Slim Scorpio: I really enjoyed having the help of this company. Dutch gave me an estimate for the minimum to clean out my garage space, which was a great price compared to the other companies. They came out within the hours given to me and the job was done fast, especially with three men working. Everyone was very nice and neat. I paid a total of $660 and will most definitely call them again.
Stuart E.Y. Richie: These guys did exactly what we agreed upon, and a bit more. Army Strong was hired for junk removal at our home and they took all of the agreed upon pieces and a bit extra. They made FAST work and were very polite and respectful. The team never dragged their feet. It was a blessing to not have to haggle — you get what you pay for, and this was good service.

Why Richmond keeps calling us back
We treat your move like a mission — planned, executed, completed
Army Strong Movers and Storage was founded on the values that define military service: discipline, integrity, and a commitment to the people we serve. That means a crew that shows up early, pads your doorways, wraps your furniture in paper and blankets, and hands you an itemized receipt at the end.
“We don't just move boxes. We move lives forward.”

Real jobs, real trucks, and the story behind each one
No stock crews. No borrowed trucks. Every photo below was taken on an actual Army Strong job — here's what was happening in each one.

Paper first, blankets second, straps last.
Field note 01
The extra ninety seconds
This is a cabinet on its way into the truck, already sleeved in moving paper and pad-wrapped at the corners. The customer didn't ask for it — it's just what we do before anything crosses a threshold. Wrapping a piece like this costs about ninety seconds. Refinishing a gouged corner costs a weekend and somebody's trust. That trade is why Curt Conlin wrote that after many moves, this was the first one where nothing was scratched, dented, or broken.

Uniformed, named, and accountable.
Field note 02
Two men, one mattress, no drywall damage
Our shirts are on the back of every guy in this photo for a reason: you always know who is in your house. Crews run three or four deep with a named lead — Dutch, Smoke, Chase, Daryl, Trevon, Big Al, Kevin, Junior, Tee. Customers thank them by name in the reviews, which is the only performance review that has ever mattered to us. Nobody freelances the heavy stuff; the lead calls the lift, the pivot, and the stair count out loud.
Get this handled for you
Quoted off the load, not off a hunch.
Field note 03
The garage that emptied before lunch
Junk removal isn't a side hustle for us — it's a trailer, three men, and a flat price quoted off a walkthrough instead of a guess. Old fencing, scrap rail, bins, deck furniture, a dead fridge: it goes on the trailer and it goes away. Slim Scorpio called Dutch for a garage clear-out, got a minimum-load price that beat every other company he called, and paid $660 with three men working fast and clean.

The SUV that shows up before the truck does
Two interstate shields on the back glass tell you the whole business model: I-64 for local work, I-95 for long distance. Free estimates on the tailgate, both numbers under it, and a motto we actually mean. Before a truck ever pulls up, this SUV comes to your driveway so somebody walks your rooms, counts your inventory, and hands you a number in writing. That's the step most companies skip, and it's the step that keeps move-day invoices honest.

Field note 05
Where the name came from
This banner has been on our storefront and our flyers since the beginning: affordable, secure, swift, stress free. It isn't decoration. It's the promise a soldier's family recognizes on sight — show up early, work the plan, own the outcome. Fifteen years later the flyers still land in mailboxes, and people like Sue M. still call the number on them when their original movers vanish two days before a lease ends.

Field note 06
A load plan you could read like a blueprint
Look at the wall of this truck: sofa shrink-wrapped and stood on end, boxes stacked heaviest-to-lightest, soft goods filling every void so nothing shifts on the interstate. A truck packed loose is a truck that arrives with broken corners. We build the load in tiers, strap every tier, and walk the deck before the door comes down. It's the same reason Sue M.'s Richmond apartment left on a Thursday and landed in New Jersey Saturday morning intact.

What drives us
Built on strength, honor & service
Integrity
Honest pricing, honest timelines, honest communication. You get a clear quote before we ever lift a box.
Discipline
Every move is planned and executed with military-grade precision. We show up on time, ready to work.
Commitment
Your move isn't finished until you're happy with where every last item landed.
Respect
We respect your home, your belongings, and your time. Courteous, trained, uniformed crews.
No games, no move-day math
What actuallymoves your price
Six things change the number on your quote, and none of them are a surprise fee. Open each one — this is the same explanation Jonathan & Michael give in your driveway.
On the truck before we knock
The gear that keeps the invoice honest
Crews that show up short on equipment make up the time somewhere — usually on your clock or your drywall. Here's what rides with every Army Strong crew.
Moving paper & pads
Every piece sleeved before it crosses a threshold.
Shrink wrap
Upholstery and drawers sealed against dust and shift.
Appliance dollies & straps
650 lb refrigerators and safes move on gear, not knuckles.
Floor runners & door jamb pads
Your walls and hardwoods are protected before the first lift.
Tool kits for reassembly
Beds, tables, and cribs come apart and go back together.
Trailer for hauls
Junk and debris leave on the same visit.

The number you sign is the number you pay. Materials, crew size, and hours are all stated up front.
Wrapped before it moves
Paper, blankets, and shrink wrap on every piece of furniture — not just the ones you flag.
Early, not late
Crews roll at 6 AM. If we are ever running behind, you get a call before the window, not after.
Same-day damage reporting
If something happens, we tell you on-site, document it, and open the claim that day.

What it looks like from your window
This photo was taken by a customer standing in her own living room, watching two of our guys work her driveway. That's the vantage point we design the whole day around — you should be able to look out the window, see the pace, and stop worrying. Doorways get padded, floors get runners, and the lead checks in with you at load-out, at the halfway mark, and before we pull off. Donna Wells watched us sweep an entire empty truck days later to find one piece of daybed hardware.

Get your written quote today
Send the details and we'll come back with crew size, hours, materials, and total — in writing. Moving in the next 48 hours? Call (804) 319-0551 instead; short notice is our specialty.
How do you price a move — hourly or flat rate?+
Both. Local moves are usually hourly with a stated minimum and crew size; long-distance moves are quoted as a flat rate based on inventory and mileage. Whichever applies, you get the number in writing before we book, including materials like shrink wrap and boxes. No line item appears on your invoice that wasn't in your quote.
Is the estimate really free?+
Yes. Call either number or send the form and we'll walk your inventory over the phone, by video, or in person — our estimator SUV comes to you. There's no obligation and no deposit to get a number.
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes, Army Strong Movers and Storage is fully licensed and insured, and full-value protection is available on long-distance shipments. We'll send proof of insurance to your building or HOA on request — Certificates of Insurance are common for apartments and offices and we handle them daily.
How far in advance should I book?+
Two to three weeks is ideal for peak season (May–September) and month-end. That said, short notice is our specialty — we have done next-day and same-day moves many times, including full long-distance packs inside 48 hours.
Do you provide paperwork and a receipt?+
Always. You receive a written estimate, a signed work order on move day listing crew size, hours, and materials, and an itemized receipt at completion. Ask for anything you don't see and we'll put it in your hands before we pull off.
What if something gets damaged?+
We tell you on-site, document it, and start the claim the same day — no discovering it later. Our crews wrap furniture in paper and blankets specifically to avoid this, and customers like Brian Roy have had a damaged item replaced inside a week.
Can you store my things between closings?+
Yes. Climate-controlled, monitored storage with flexible in-and-out scheduling. A lot of our customers use it for the gap between a sale and a purchase, or during a deployment or PCS window.
Do you move safes, pianos, and gun safes?+
Regularly. Heavy specialty items get the right equipment and an experienced lead. Tell us the weight, the stairs, and the doorway width when you call so we send the right crew.

Ready to make your move?
Two lines, one standard. Call Jonathan & Michael and get a straight answer on price, crew, and timing today.
